THE RITUAL OF THE PERFECT DRYING
Hair wash is a very important and delicate process, and we, as curly women, pay attention to every single detail of it. But drying is important as well: are we sure we give it the importance it deserves?
A careless drying is not just a tiny slip, easily fixable with the right amount of gel: it can ruin hours and hours of wash, mask, and any other kind of treatment. That's why we must learn what's the drying that enhances best our curls uniqueness: so that all our effort can make the natural beauty of our hair shine its brightest.
There are 3 main drying methods for curly hair, basing on what's the result you want to get. The first (and maybe most famous one) is the scrunching: used to give curls definition and volume, it consists in "crumpling" your hair strands with the palm of your hand - also using a cotton t-shirt or a microfibre towel - moving from below upwards. Sure, it takes a lot of patience; but the result is guaranteed.
Then, there is a method specifically studied for long hair, whose structural heaviness often leads to that annoying "triangle effect" caused by the flattening of the highest part of hair: this method is called clipping, a process where you have to divide your curls into sections, staple them on their roots with some hair clips and dry them with a diffuser.
Last - but not least - the easy yet always effective plopping: using just a cotton t-shirt, you can remove any trace of frizz and give your curls softness and definition. You only have to place your t-shirt on a horizontal plane (such as your table or your bed), lower your head and slowly get close to the t-shirt, in order to let your curls roll up right over your head; then, you roll up your t-shirt sleeves in order to fix a turban around your head, and you let your curls air-dry. If, instead, you're in a hurry, it's enough for you to keep your turban for about 20 minutes, and thene complete drying with hairdryer and diffuser.
In conclusion, some advice that are valid for every drying method (even for the good old hairdryer!): always use an ionic hairdryer, for its particulars properties gives your curls even more hydration; always keep an average level of temperature and power on your hairdryer, in order not to traumatize, dry or even "boil" your curls; always dry them with a diffuser and always keeping your head down, to evenly distribute the hot air flow and give volume to the entire length of your hair.
