Drying curls in the summer: techniques for super definition
Using the hairdryer in the summer can become a difficult undertaking, especially for those who suffer a lot from the heat. On the other hand, however, air drying curls is risky: they curl and ripple more easily, the roots flatten due to the weight of water and the definition is almost non-existent.
Whether you are team hair dryer or team natural air, the important thing to remember is to start with washing: in the summer it is better to prefer an after-sun routine designed to restore the health of your hair after exposure to the sun, heat and salt. Then you will be free to choose the drying technique that best suits your needs!
Here are some ideas to try:
1. Plopping to forget the hair dryer
Want to avoid the heat of the hair dryer completely? Do not let wet hair dry! Apply the Moisturizing and Modeling Custard Gel on the lengths, do some scrunching and wrap the hair in a microfibre towel without squeezing it. Leave them on until completely dry for maximum definition and volume!
2. Microplopping for shorter drying
Place a microfiber towel on the palms of your hands wide open and facing upwards, then squeeze the strands of curly hair into your fists in an upwards movement. Continue until hair is just damp. Apply the Rebalancing after-sun cream without rinsing distributing it from roots to ends, then the styling products and complete drying with the diffuser - it will take you half the time!
3. Curl Definer + diffuser for those who are not afraid of the heat
Apply your favorite styling product, such as Curl-Activating Volumising Foam or Custard Gel. Place the Curl Definer at the roots, with the teeth facing out. Tilt the brush slightly so that the curly hair adheres well to the entire colored surface. Comb curly hair from roots to ends. Once all the strands have been combed, complete drying with the diffuser.
